Update on the transition of LGCDAWA to the Local Government Community Development Network within LGMA.
The transition is now complete.
Members of the Local Government Community Development Association of WA voted at the Annual General Meeting on 20th June 2008 to become a Special Interest Network of the Local Government Manager’s Australia WA Division (see attached for meeting minutes).
Under the new arrangements, the LGCDAWA has ceased operating as a separate entity and has formed as a Community Development Interest Group within LGMA.
A Transitional Committee was appointed at the meeting to oversee the formal dissolution of the Association and to determine the best operational, administrative, membership and financial arrangements for the new interest group.
In summary, the procedures for the dissolution of the LGCDA include submitting to the Department of Consumer & Employment Protection a:
- Notice of Special Resolution (Form 6) which advises that the LGCDA is being wound up voluntarily;
- Distribution Plan (Form 7) which determines how surplus property (including cash and property) is to be transferred to LGMA; and,
- Implementing the distribution plan (within one month) after it is lodged with DOCEP.
The Transitional Committee has fulfilled these requirements .
Please be advised that if you have paid your 2008 membership with the LGCDAWA (which would have expired on 31st December 2008) you will automatically become an Affiliate Member of LGMA for the membership year 1 July 2008 – 30 June 2009, and entitled to all benefits emanating from that membership. This will be at no cost to you or your organisation.
If your organisation is a Corporate Member, the names provided as the contact persons for your membership will be appointed as Affiliate Members of LGMA.
In the meantime, please be assured that the Transitional Committee (the contact details for which are provided below) will continue to provide you with the same member benefits you have had as an LGCDAWA member:
- regular newsletters and information bulletins
- information about and access to professional development events
- networking opportunities
